Basically, I'm falling apart

Hello, I’m Jason. Welcome to my little slice of the internet!
I like to post photos in the form of a journal and share links to things that I find around the web. Feel free to click around! ✌️
It’s that time of the year! I love end of year music lists. I find so much stuff that never showed up on my radar. Here’s all of the music that I thoroughly enjoyed throughout 2024.
I haven’t listened to TOKiMONSTA in a while. I really like her music. She’s a beat producer, or at least started out as one. Her new album is more house and disco, and so far, I am really digging it.
Her picks on this episode of What’s In My Bag were all super good, but what I’m mostly interested in is this set of books by Hiroshi Nagai. His illustrations look like vectors, but they’re all hand painted. He apparently did a lot of Japanese City Pop album covers.
What a gorgeous hi-fi system. It looks to have some inspiration from the Vitsoe/Braun wall unit designed by Dieter Rams, but much more brutalist? I love the overall look and feel. Kind of cold vs the warm sound you’d get from vinyl records. The cables running from component to component reminds me of a eurorack synthesizer setup.
Flight Facilities, a DJ/production duo from Australia, released four mixes back in 2013. Each one spanning a decade, starting with 1972, and ending at 2012. The mixes take you on a little music journey through each decade, incorporating pop music and major news headlines on a timeline.
I used to jog around our old neighborhood listening to the 1982-1992 mix all the time.
I’m not sure what prompted me to look these up again, as I’ve had them saved for a while, but I was very excited to see that they’ve added two more decades! 1962-1972 and 2012-2022. They fit in perfectly with the original four. Still super fun and really well done.
Related: another amazing era mix is DJ Spinbad's 90's Megamix. Quite possibly one of the best, and most fun mixes I’ve ever heard.
Aaron Draplin updated his site design, and he uploaded a bunch of images from his junkin’ trips. I’ve always loved it when he posts these on social media. Kind of want to start one of these myself. Should “junkin’” be a new slash page ?
I never really thought of Caribou performing as a live band. The drummer killed it. Incredible set!
A wonderful talk from XOXO 2024 by Cabel Sasser on how he met Wes Cook. It was presented to me with no context and no spoilers, so I’m doing the same.
Be a Big Sexy Voter! All jokes aside, this site is beautiful.
Cindy Lee aka Patrick Flegel’s latest 32 track LP is only streaming on YouTube, or available to download from their site . Hoping for a physical release soon!
Sonic Pi is a code-based music production and performance tool. I was looking for videos of DJ Dave performing live, and I found out that this is what she uses to do everything! Amazing! Filing this to dig into later.
This is a good one! Really great pickups. I love this series because I always hear something new to dig into.
